APC Chieftain Cletus Obon Criticizes Tinubu’s 2027 Campaign Council

A chieftain of the All-Progressives Congress (APC), Cletus Obon, has criticized the composition of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council, describing the list as flawed and influenced by political patronage.

Obon made the remarks during an interview on Arise Television, where he questioned whether the party had made the right choices in putting together its campaign team.

According to him, the composition of the council contains strategic mistakes, with several individuals listed having little or no relevance to the objectives of the campaign.

“As an APC member, I can say we may not have made our best choices in the general composition of the campaign list. We may be reserving our best for the worst; there are strategic errors in the list. Most members of the campaign council have no business being there; some of them were put there as an act of patronage,” he said.

Obon’s comments come amid growing discussions within political circles over the composition of the APC’s campaign structure and whether the team has the right individuals to effectively drive President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.

The APC has yet to publicly respond to Obon’s criticism.
