Oyo State APC Youth League Commends President Tinubu on Successful Rescue of Oriire Pupils, Calls for Strengthened Security in Oyo State
The Oyo State Chapter of the APC Youth League (APCYL) commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his decisive leadership and unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, which culminated in the successful rescue of the abducted pupils, teachers, and principal from Oriire Local Government Area.
We equally appreciate the gallant efforts of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun Corps, local hunters, vigilante groups, and every security stakeholder whose coordinated efforts ensured the safe return of the victims.
While we celebrate this successful rescue, we express concern over the deteriorating security situation in Oyo State. We urgeGovernor Seyi Makinde to take responsibility by reviewing and strengthening the state's security architecture to effectively address the growing challenges of kidnapping, land grabbing, ethnic clashes, and other criminal activities.
The Oyo State APC Youth League also calls on the Governor to publicly apologize to the people of Oyo State over the statement credited to him during a meeting in Bauchi, which many residents considered insensitive and an unnecessary politicization of a serious security issue. Matters affecting the lives and safety of citizens should be approached with empathy, responsibility, and statesmanship.
Furthermore, we advise the Governor to revive and strengthen the robust security framework established during the administration of the late Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, particularly the effective deployment of Operation Burst for emergency security responses, while providing greater logistical and operational support to the Amotekun Corps and other security agencies to prevent future occurrences.
Oyo State has historically been regarded as one of Nigeria's most peaceful states. However, in recent years, residents have become increasingly concerned about incidents of kidnapping, land grabbing, communal and ethnic clashes, and other security challenges. These issues require urgent, coordinated, and practical solutions.
The league appeal to the good people of Oyo State to remain calm, law-abiding, and vigilant by cooperating with security agencies and reporting suspicious activities promptly.
The Oyo State APC Youth League remains confident that with purposeful leadership, effective security policies, and people-oriented governance, Oyo State can reclaim its status as one of the safest and most prosperous states in Nigeria. We encourage residents to remain hopeful as we look forward to a new era of responsible governance and sustainable development in 2027.
Signed:
Engr. Ayobami Dagilogba
Coordinator, APC Youth League (APCYL)
