Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Ogun State Governor, has charged the newly appointed Special Adviser on the Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA), Farook Adeniyi Akintunde, to deploy his wealth of experience in the environment sector to ensure effective and efficient waste management across the state.
Governor Abiodun gave the charge while congratulating Akintunde on his appointment, which took immediate effect. The new Special Adviser replaces Hon. Abayomi Hunye.
The Governor expressed confidence in Akintunde’s capacity to pilot the affairs of the Authority, noting that his experience over the past five years in the environmental sector would be instrumental in strengthening the state’s waste management framework.
He emphasised the importance of improved waste management services to sustaining a cleaner and healthier environment for residents, urging the new appointee to justify the confidence reposed in him through diligence and strategic leadership.
Also congratulating the appointee, Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Ola Oresanya, assured that the Ministry of Environment, the parent ministry of OGWAMA, would provide the necessary support to enable the new Special Adviser succeed in his assignment.
Oresanya noted that collaboration between the Ministry and the Authority would be critical in advancing the government’s vision of a better, cleaner and safer Ogun State.
In his response, Hon. Farook Akintunde expressed appreciation to the Governor for the opportunity to serve, pledging to build on existing structures to enhance the Authority’s performance.
He called for the cooperation and support of the management and staff of OGWAMA, stressing that collective effort would be required to take the Authority to greater heights and deliver waste management services that would be the pride of residents across the state.
Akintunde affirmed his commitment to ensuring improved service delivery and repositioning the Authority to meet the environmental needs of a rapidly growing population.
